Dear Dr. Nirdosh, I think you are right in stating that the potassium especially with acidosis is to low to be compatible with life! However, we have seen on the rare occassion extremely low single digit potassiums in living children and it is the rare deviation from the rule!! You are right! It is highly unusual and possible but jsut may have happen if it is a true story. Warm regards Sanjiv Lewin Dr Nirdosh Safaya wrote: After the updates it appears that this case is purely a hypothetical afig of imagination so long as child is carrying on with serum Pottassium incompatible with life.I would like to request the case study authors to comment on the ABG and the electrolyte vital status of the child in discussion .Do you expect a serum K of 0.7 and pH staying within normal range without obvious physiological compensations.Anyone to comment and elaborate.
