The characteristic clinical presentation ,the age ,the type of acute(one week)illness, with typical flaccid paralysis with foul smelling loose stools so commonly observed in acute infectious poliomyelitis ,although it is rare to find all four limbs equally and simultaneously involved which usually takes place in Infectious Polyneuritis(Acute Gillian Barre Syndrome). The mention of recurrent and long standing diarrhoea since 9months of age seems of little significance although one could also think of Dyselectrolytemia(esp.HypoKalemia)in diarrheal illness resulting in acute flaccid weakness-palsy of limbs. The deciding parameter for nature of illness and diagnosis in this would still be the CSF analysis. It is also less likely to find no mention of the state of respiratory excursions as with four limbs involvement there is usually involvement of respiratory muscles in both the infectious flaccid paralysis I.e AFP of Polio and Gullain Barre Syndrome.
